Water

This lab offers 5th Grade- "CALIFORNIA SCIENCE STANDARDS". The Water Lab will help your class discover the exciting properties of water. Water can exist in all three states of matter: solid, liquid and gas. The Lab moves through the water cycle between evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. Water is a polar molecule that sticks to itself (cohesion) and sticks to other substances (adhesion). Experience all of these important properties of water at the Hands-on Science Lab.

The lab offers six stations with opportunities to learn about water. At Station #1: "Water and Heat" looks at water's ability to absorb large quantities of heat. A trip through the water cycle is offered at Station #2: "Evaporation". Station #3: "Where is Earth's Water Found?" is a dramatic visualization of the amount of water in our oceans, lakes & streams, atmosphere, glaciers and underground reservoirs. "Surface Tension" is the title of Station #4, where the student is able to work with small drops of water to understand the consequences of water's ability to stick to itself. Station #5: "Water Mixers/A Current Affair" will show the properties of water at different temperatures. Last, but not, least is a water race at Station #6, "Capillary Action".

Come and enjoy the excitement of an action packed Hands-on, Minds-on Science Lab with your students.
